Sarah Costello

With over 20 years of experience as a strategist, writer, and creative director, Sarah specializes in translating complex stories into compelling, effective brand and marketing campaigns.

Prior to founding Summer Bunker, Sarah was Creative & Strategy Director for 3/Thirds, a boutique Portland marketing agency. Leading an exceptional creative team, she guided the creation of brand and marketing platforms for PacifiCorp, Autodesk, Meta, and others.

As an independent writer and strategist, she’s partnered with agencies including Must Be Something, Perennial Advisors, Babcock & Jenkins, and Sockeye to develop everything from social campaigns and video scripts to brand manifestos and web copy, for brands including Google, Nike, IBM, and American Express.

Sarah’s professional path has been anything but linear—she’s been an Americorps volunteer, communications VP for an environmental advocacy nonprofit, a PhD candidate in U.S. history, and always, a deeply curious observer of how people use language to make sense of the world. That curiosity still drives her today, whether she’s leading a messaging workshop or shaping a new brand platform.
